A Different Light

Have you ever thought of the saying 'seeing things in a different light'?  The more I learn about photography, the more I learn that it has a lot to do with the light.  There are so many settings to adjust to the light and so many different ways to catch the light of the times of day...It has so much to do with how we see the light too... I was finishing up the supper dishes when I saw this light on our grass.....I HAD to capture it.  or try to anyway.....

Here are a few minutes of the light as I saw it...all from the same spot over about 2 minutes...

Are there some things in our lives that we need to see in a different light?  to listen to someone's input?  to change our long madeup minds?  to examine a little closer?

I know that as I get older, sometimes it is easier to listen to what others  have to say even when I have made up my mind about a matter....

I believe it is wisdom to learn to listen.  and be willing to be wrong about something that we are just certain we are right about..just a little food for thought today.

I have been trying to decide on the BEST smartphone to buy to replace mine and had made up my mind...but, because I listened to my son, I did a little research and changed my mind.....
I think there are lots of life issues where we need to open up a little bit (humble ourselves....ouch) and LISTEN!

Light surely changes things quickly.......so, let some light in today....

Are you ready for shedding some new light in your life??

thanks for stopping by today...

Love,

Mona

Taps

Did you sing Taps as a child? I learned it in Girl Scouts..we sang it at camp...the words are often remembered......

Fading light dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar drawing nigh -- Falls the night.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Then good night, peaceful night,
Till the light of the dawn shineth bright;
God is near, do not fear -- Friend, good night.

These are a few glimpses of our homeplace as the sun started to set this week....it is a beautiful time of day...

those are green pine trees in the background..the setting sun had turned them golden..

I love the different times of day..the uniqueness of each one..when it's time to close the blinds, draw the drapes, and turn on the lights.

a very cozy time of day.
when we can again shut out the world and just be us..

yes, TAPS is a welcome song in our lives.

Because we know that dawn will arrive in just a few short hours and another day will begin..

I hope you have a restful and peaceful weekend with a surprise or two thrown in..

The Light of Life

It is so easy to add a little romance to your life..and to your surroundings...these lights are simple and oh, so romantic...

 I absolutely love the 'blue hour' that occurs right before dark..I often grab my camera and take pictures..some good, some not so good....it is easier to take focused pictures with this camera but I still have a long way to go...

Early morning light....so peaceful....

and the cover of this old dictionary in morning light...isn't it beautiful?

If our life isn't what we want it to be...maybe we can just look at things in a different light and it will look very different to us ... we will get a better perspective of reality.....the little saying 'shed some light on the subject' comes to mind..

There are probably pieces of all of our lives that could use some light....maybe if we could just see that really tough issue during the blue hour it wouldn't look so bad after all.....or maybe we could just wait until dark and we won't be able to see it at all...it will disappear.....

Off to see some things in different light.....the blue hour will be here before I  know it...and I promise..it makes everything look beautiful for those few minutes ......even when it looks dark outside, my camera can still find the blueness of the sky...try it....you will love your pictures....

Signs in Nature

When I saw this in my yard...I was a little scared!!!!! It is January...the second week in a totally WINTER month.....and I know the Bible uses fig trees as a warning...so I am paying attention.
Just some random thought this morning....no particular order to any of this except it was all captured with my little camera and I am the photographer/artist....so that is the common thread...  grin.....

a green fig in January and new growth too

light under the oak tree
Do you see how brightly light shines when darkness surrounds it????  hmmm...Be the Light!!

illuminated clouds

There is a full moon hiding behind these clouds....see how even moon light gets through the darkness??

fog
Shrouded in fog....I hate that feeling...like my brain is in a fog...don't you?

I just like these pictures.......proof of a winter landscape behind a green fig....

Grandmother's cutglass vase

and this.....one of my favorite pieces......it was my Grandmother's..I remember a man entering her living room right after she had died and asking my parents what were they going to do with the cutglass vase????  I am not kidding..he was one of the first ones through the door to visit us.....that story was told over and over  especially by my Mama..at the 'audacity' of that man....Mama had a bent toward the dramatic..LOL   but looking back on that as an adult......I guess Mama was right!!   that was pretty bad.....needless to say my parents kept it and I got it from Daddy a few years ago...I just love family pieces that have a story attached to them......and so I will end for today...

thank you for reading along....I hope to see you again soon...

Is Anybody Home?

Have you ever thought about what it looks like to others when we are full of light?  Of how the light from within dispels the darkness that is around us?  that light is a powerful force.....it invites others to come close..to have a look...to see what it is that makes us glow.....

light from within
That is what I started thinking about when I saw this picture taken around dusk of the view into our family room.
The room where we do most of our living....really, my favorite room in our house...I have watched many movies in this room, prayed a lot of prayers, read a lot of books, done some knitting, read a whole lot of newspapers and loved a lot of people that came into this room and shared life with us..

when I look at these windows, I automatically look past the window panes..I want to see what is inside...the warmth of the golden light draws me in..it looks homey and safe....that is the kind of woman I want to be..
it is what I reference in my blog title.....the hidden art of homemaking..  it is the person behind it all that is the hidden art..the kind of woman I am makes the kind of home I make....and I want to always give off the light within...that light can only come from one place...HIM...He gives it to me......

looks like nobody's home
The very same window without the light is not very inviting..it does not draw me in...there is not much worth looking in for....it is pretty much just a window..
Do you see how important what is inside of is?   it is the light or the darkness that is within us that influences our world....the ones that are around us......we can either dispel the darkness with the light we carry or we can be useless because there is nothing inside...just a void....

I want to spread light...what about you?

Posted by Picasa

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.

The way of the wicked is like darkness;
They do not know over what they stumble.

My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.

Do not let them depart from your sight;
Keep them in the midst of your heart.

For they are life to those who find them
And health to all their body.

Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life.

Put away from you a deceitful mouth
And put devious speech far from you.

Let your eyes look directly ahead
And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.

Watch the path of your feet
And all your ways will be established

Thank you for visiting here today..my hope for you is that the path of your life continues to shine brighter and brighter.......
