I Love Thanksgiving

I do love this holiday but I must admit..this girl is tired..  I  have been cleaning and redoing and getting ready for 2 weeks.  Now I have some cooking and some straightening up to do tomorrow.  Hallelujah my daughter is coming to help on Wednesday..  I am so excited that she will be here.

I did get the table finished today.  It is a challenge when there will be 7 grandchildren mixed in with the adults.  So there is a mixture of glassware and different sized forks but the rest is the same. I tried to keep it simple and natural this year.  Let's have a look...

These next pictures are of our family room table that we have enjoyed all month.

Frankly these could use some editing but I am just too tired and then they would never get posted kinda like the last 2 years.  LOL  So I am making progress here.  Just a little photography tidbit..  The lighting is what makes the difference in these 2 sets of pictures.  The second group I am using natural lighting and to me they look better.  The first group, I have lamps on because there are no windows in this room.  It makes a lot of difference in how pictures turn out.  None of these are edited in any way.  Learn to pay attention to the lighting when you take photographs.  Such a great way to express your artistic talents..

The End of the Year

It's been a very eventful year around here...at the end of 2015, I am looking forward to this next year..

An update on the little red coat.....here is my son's son wearing the coat...maybe it has found it's final resting place.  the end of the line and the one it was purposed for...  I gave these pictures to my son for Christmas..it was a surprise..made my heart glad..very glad.  the coat I sewed for his daddy, he now has it on....

   And then we switch gears and have Christmas morning with the two of us....
we gift each other with bedroom shoes and perfume and enjoy being together..it's the simple things we have come to treasure so much..loving each other is just so right...

I have set a lot of tables this month...some I photographed, some I did not..Nevertheless, the table has been a bright spot all month.....

on a side note, NEVERTHELESS...that is my new word for the year......

A lot has happened over this past year, NEVERTHELESS, we are thankful for life and for each other and our children and grandchildren..and lots of other things too...

Something beautiful

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

Do you know how hard that is to do sometimes?  DWELL . on. these. things.....

struggling with this today...but I am an overcomer....

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

and I KNOW this to be true.....

Thanksgivings Past

As I get the table ready for next week's meal, I think back to the many Thanksgivings we have been together..

People have come and gone but the core is still here...and added to every year....Things change, people get mad, people die, people divorce...but one thing that remains...We have Thanksgiving here every year...

I can't help but reminisce..  mainly because I try to change up the table settings..LOL  just being real here..

More than anything to do with this blog, I am grateful for a new camera this year.  These pictures leave a whole lot to be desired. I tried to find some decent photography from the past years...Funny thing I found ...I was already beginning to play around with the light with my old point and shoot camera...

I hope you enjoy these glimpses into past Thanksgivings at our house...and now I am on to getting the one we are fixing to celebrate all in order......

I am hoping my life lines up like today's date...LOL  I seriously doubt that it will though.....It seems like the clock hits overdrive as soon as November starts...and there is so much I want to do but absolutely not that much time in a day....soooo.. I must slow down and THINK!  about what is really important....and what  really matters....  You know, the things that make a difference.....

Like sitting down to supper with my husband and discussing our day...and truly listening to each other.....

and taking the time to peel enough apples to make apple crisp from the apples we bought last week from Barber Orchard Fruit Stand.....

Remembering to savor the moments of life is sometimes difficult when the business of holidays is upon us..

Priority.......sitting around this little light at dusk..sharing a meal with my beloved..and remembering the important things in life.....there was a time I did not have this love in my life...

To have it now, I am very, very thankful.......
