O Christmas Tree

The theme of my tree this year was elusive for weeks.  I just could not get any inspiration.
then, shiny brites.. yes, the vintage glass ornaments.  But what color?  I always choose a main color.

Here is my inspiration piece..  ALL COLORS  written in the handwriting of a woman years ago and as I picked up this box, a soft whisper..  Yes, do all the colors.  at first I thought, tacky, but..well, you'll see...

I decorated this tree for me.  and to make something happy and pretty so there are no staged photographs, just real life.  Hope you enjoy them. I never expected to have such response form everyone about the few pictures I have put on Instagram and Facebook.  My husband has laughed with joy at seeing it several times.. and I LOVE IT!

All of the ornaments I used are old.  Mostly shiny brites with some from West Germany, Poland, Japan, and Austria.  As I opened bin after bin, I could not believe how many I had collected through the years from thrift stores. Hundreds. Now they are all on this tree and the new ones have gone back to the thrift store for someone else to buy..
Enjoy and may it bring laughter and beauty to your day..

And in the living room where we have the fireplace, a much simpler tree.  But I love it too.
dramatic and moody and cozy

I hope you are all having a peaceful Christmas season.  Remember why we are celebrating.
Jesus really is the reason..

Merry Christmas y'all

It's December

This is Maggie..  Since I last wrote a blog, Bonnie has gone from us.  We had to say our goodbyes the end of September.  It was such a sad time for us.  It's the main reason I have been absent from blogland lately.  I just have not had much motivation but I am finally coming around.  We brought Maggie into the house full time right after Bonnie died.  She has adapted well and is constantly by my side.  such a comfort to me.

These are the colors I am focusing on in our family room and dining room... I wanted a really earthy natural Christmas but.....I have just veered a little, I mean a lot off course.  oh well..

Most of my inside decorating is finished, I think...  and all of these vintage ornaments plus a whole lot more made it out this year....

I am hoping this helps me to get started back blogging occasionally...

My blog is in dire need of a refreshing.  That is first on my list of New Year resolutions.  Sometimes I even do them....do you?

Good to hear from you all..

cousins
And then we switch gears and have Christmas morning with the two of us....
we gift each other with bedroom shoes and perfume and enjoy being together..it's the simple things we have come to treasure so much..loving each other is just so right...

I have set a lot of tables this month...some I photographed, some I did not..Nevertheless, the table has been a bright spot all month.....

on a side note, NEVERTHELESS...that is my new word for the year......

A lot has happened over this past year, NEVERTHELESS, we are thankful for life and for each other and our children and grandchildren..and lots of other things too...

Our town......downtown at Christmas...and just because I love this picture and wanted to share it with all of you....I am thankful for you...

Happy New Year..  2016..
It's gonna be a good one!
