It's December

This is Maggie..  Since I last wrote a blog, Bonnie has gone from us.  We had to say our goodbyes the end of September.  It was such a sad time for us.  It's the main reason I have been absent from blogland lately.  I just have not had much motivation but I am finally coming around.  We brought Maggie into the house full time right after Bonnie died.  She has adapted well and is constantly by my side.  such a comfort to me.

These are the colors I am focusing on in our family room and dining room... I wanted a really earthy natural Christmas but.....I have just veered a little, I mean a lot off course.  oh well..

Most of my inside decorating is finished, I think...  and all of these vintage ornaments plus a whole lot more made it out this year....

I am hoping this helps me to get started back blogging occasionally...

My blog is in dire need of a refreshing.  That is first on my list of New Year resolutions.  Sometimes I even do them....do you?

Good to hear from you all..

June at Winterpast

Summer is in full force around here.  The flowers are blooming and the vegetables are beginning to bear..and I have more to do than one person can physically handle.   every year....this happens every year.....and I am ALWAYS surprised.  LOL

Then there is my Bonnie...aging gracefully and still trying to keep up with me in the yard.  Most days are spent inside where she sleeps the day away...Bonnie just turned 14 years old.  She is and has been such a good, good dog...

I am so thankful that we got rain yesterday..We have been so hot and dry that it is hard to keep things going..at least some relief.....
Hoping y'all are doing ok out there...

When Gentleness Rules

I have heard the saying that dogs can sense a person's spirit and react accordingly....We have a herd of 5 Australian shepherds..the oldest is Bonnie at 11 1/2 years old..  She has pretty much been running from my grandsons since they were born...for more than 7 years...

Yesterday, as my granddaughter played near the Christmas tree, Bonnie was near by...and never made a run for it...

As you can see in this sequence of pictures, Bonnie has made a new friend..a very gentle one.MaryElla..

I was so surprised as Bonnie just lay there while MaryElla wallowed all over her...there is definitely a different spirit about this lovely girl....she is a GIRL!  and boy are they different from boys..  LOL

This is my very favorite...ME just completely laid down and Bonnie just let her ..for a few minutes..this picture makes my heart glad...my two girls....I love them both dearly.....

MaryElla with her little mirror....amazed at her reflection..did I say I adore this tiny girl?

Gotta start that makeup young...

I hope you all are having a Merry Christmas...Now that all of the preparations are done and our family dinner is over, I can focus on the meaning of Christmas..  and the extreme business of the last few weeks has subsided...we are now returning to a semblance of normal.....

Christmas Eve service at our church...
Two visits with children and grandchildren on Christmas Day...
Then the quietness of our home on Christmas night....

Yes, I love Christmas and this year is a very FULL and joyous one...I am so very thankful to God for all He has done for us....

My True Companion

My dog Bonnie is an Australian Shepherd..I have mentioned her many times and wrote about her here   ....
Today is her 10th birthday...she is not getting cake because she tends to be on the chunky side..but she will probably get beans and potatoes..which she LOVES!!!

This is what she spends a lot of time doing........

sitting near me,on the lookout.....

she can hold her own with these kids of hers....especially the girl, Maggie...Bonnie.has to keep her in line...LOL

Bonnie is looking on as the pups argue over a ball.......she has NO INTEREST in chasing a ball...none at all....she will roll around on the carpet sometimes and make cooing noises but that is about all the playing she does, unless Maggie starts something with her..then she will ABSOLUTELY show her who is boss!!! until Maggie gives in.....

I am thankful for this wonderful dog that has given me so many years of pleasure......she surely sticks closer than a  brother  sister to me....

Happy Birthday Bonnie!

thank you all for stopping by today....hoping to get more into writing life stories very soon...

I hope to see you again .........

It's their birthday...

Two years ago today I had one of the most fun experiences of my life.....my dog Bonnie had puppies..  7 gorgeous healthy puppies....and we kept 3 of those puppies as our own..they have been such a joy to us..when all of life seemed to close in on us, we have had the 'babies'  as we refer to them....they have made us want to get up in the morning because they insist on being fed even on the days we would rather pull the covers up over our heads..so they have been such a bright spot....and I love them to pieces...I thought I would share a little of our life with the babies.

My Bonnie

Today is my dog, Bonnie's birthday.  she is 9 years old..that is 63 yrs old in dog years....she was a most wonderful gift from my sweet husband almost 6 years ago.  I had always had small dogs and just was not sure I would like a dog that was this big.  LOL   He assured me that I would like her.  well, he was right.  I love this dog.  she has been my constant companion....but just one thing...she STILL barks at Bryan EVERY time he comes home....NOTHING, I mean NOTHING has worked to make her stop...I have just accepted it!  a small price to pay for such a good dog.  we have bred her 2 times.  the first time we only got one puppy.Tula.........the next time, we had 8...One little puppy didn't make it but the other 7 are stars...  2 have gone on to be in the show ring.  one is agility expert and 3 of them live with us...so we have ended up with 5 dogs....all because of this gift from my husband....

I hope you enjoy looking back over her life.  she has taught me many things...mainly about being still and KNOWING that my Master loves me...and wants to be with me.......

she is a good companion..thank you Bonnie for all of the fun and the memories...I hope you live many, many more years...
