Dahlias on the Table

It has been so much fun to have all these dahlias to make arrangements with.  The red and burgundy ones are just beautiful.  I decided to set the table around them and the apple plates by Fransciscan.  I've had the fabric a long time and it was just right for the table.

It's been stressed and hectic around here with a sick dog but a pretty table makes it all better.  I hope you are having a great start to the fall season.

Happy Fall Y'all

Mona

Dahlias and More Dahlias

This winter I decided I was going to splurge on dahlia tubers.  I was ready when the growers posted their tubers for sale and was determined to get some that always sell out quickly.  Well, let me say..  it was so worth it.  All the planning, all the digging, all the sweating, and all the waiting.. We are  in the first weeks of blooming and they are just so beautiful.  Come and let me show you what is happening so far..

Lily..our new Australian Shepherd puppy..14 weeks old and so loved

Winterpast
I could go on and on with pictures.  These flowers inspire me to learn my camera better and to use it!
I hope you have enjoyed these photographs and that they made you smile.

Spreading beauty is a good thing.

Where Do You Get Inspiration?

This morning a friend said she liked my blog and that I should write more.  hmmmmmm

I thought of responding with I don't really have any inspiration lately but..... I remembered a magnet on my refrigerator that says..

She who refreshes others will herself be refreshed...

So, I started to think about that..Is that why it has been so hard lately to write a blog?  I needed to give away what I needed in order to get it..

It has been a very long dry spell..maybe even writer's block.  But, this morning, I am picking myself up, brushing myself off and giving away what I am so desperately in need of...writing inspiration..

and a few pictures of my family room.  As you can see, I was decorating bohemian style before boho was cool.  More on that at a later time..

No staging here..  This is how we live every day.  I do not have the desire nor the energy to make everything perfect and then photograph it and blog about it.  No..  What you see is what you get.  Any day of the week.  If you stop by my house, this is what you get....us..and real life...

I hope you gather a bit of inspiration from your visit to Hidden Art of Homemaking.
I would love to have a comment from you about this.  As you can see, I am reaching out to you with a bit of inspiration in hopes of gathering some back.....Are you in need of some inspiration too?

Much love,
Mona

Friday Flowers #15

As I sit by my window, it is raining...a soft, steady rain..and it is cooler, much cooler...
Oh, glorious fall..you are so welcome this year.  It has been a tumultuous year to say the least..
Starting in February when the ice storm caused so much destruction...we need a breather.. Can any of you relate?

Battling a pinched nerve in my lower back since early summer (it is all better now thanks to my awesome chiropractor)..then a wasp sting in the nerves of my forearm put me out of commission for almost 3 weeks and I couldn't even type with my right hand....it is much, much better now too..I tend to keep to myself and be quiet until the storm passes.  But, it has not been an easy year for us, at all.
Now that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I can share it with y'all...no pity, please or worry..

We are healthy and happy now..just a little timid and a little battle weary.....hahaha  I promise, that will pass too...

I have certainly enjoyed our spider lilies this year.  The rain from earlier in the summer made them very happy...

I hope your summer was a good one.  Nevertheless, it is finally fall..and for that I am very grateful..

Welcome, welcome....in every garden, a little rain must fall....so the flowers can bloom....

Thank you for stopping by...

See you again soon..

Love,
Mona
