Garden Musing

This is mostly visual this morning....As I sat down to read for a few minutes, there was a bull's eye right outside my window...I think you will agree that it is another of nature's masterpieces......

Here are more in the same area..As the sun rose, the light shifted and more were highlighted as others faded into invisibility......fascinating...

the bud of Johnny Jumpups....or spider lilies...

Sweet Annie....

Sedum blooms.....

I have never seen so many spider webs....I am sure there is some folklore to go along with this.  I noticed just yesterday that others are beginning to write  about the harsh winter that is ahead for the east coast..  I do believe that nature is a pretty good predictor of weather patterns...but I am not very good at reading these signs...maybe I should google some of this....when I have some time.....

Thank you for stopping by today...do you have a bull's eye in your garden?

Love,
Mona

A Natural Wonder

This morning the light looked just right to take some pictures of the yard so I headed outside with my camera....The red crepe myrtle is spectacular and that was my plan...  But.....the sunlight and breeze came together at just the right moment on this spider web..It caught my eye on this most intricate and delicate piece of artwork....I think you will agree..it is a wonder!!!

This is without any editing....wanted it to be exactly as I saw it....can you believe the detail?  and Missy Spider was busily adding more rings.....

This is what came to me as I watched this unfold..and as I examined the pictures.... if God is so interested in just a little spider that He makes their home this absolutely exquisite...then how much more do you think He cares about us and our homes?  He likes for us to enjoy beauty....after all, He made all things beautiful in its time....

I hope you look for and find something beautiful and unusual today......look for it and EXPECT to find it...let me know what you find.....

This was truly an unexpected bit of artwork this morning.......

Than you for stopping by.

I hope you come again soon...

Mushroom Beauty

With all of the rain we have had this summer, there is a new type of plant growing in our yard....mushrooms...
Lots and lots of mushrooms....I guess they have just been lying underneath the ground dormant for years..I don't know very much about them except they are pretty....

These pictures were all taken at the end of the day when the sun starts to act just right for photography....some call it the golden hour......It gives the earth a rich and beautiful depth to the colors.....Once again, I am calling attention to a detail that we can easily find if we just look for it.....golden light on brown, tan, and white mushrooms...The colors are worthy of being a pallette for an entire room...or tablescape.  wink, wink..Diane and Alycia...there are your browns.....

Next, a few photos taken in early morning when I first went outside and the camera lens fogged up...interesting to me...hope you like it too.....

Have you ever thought about getting your color inspiration from nature?  All of the colors of paint in my house..inside and outside were taken from nature..with green and gray being the strong influences....It's another whole blog about the gorgeous grays in a stormy sky... But for today, it's the browns of mushrooms and mulch. not the store bought mulch, but the natural kind....real bark..Find the color schemes in nature around you and DREAM......in color....

Thank you for stopping by..I hope to see you again soon..

Beauty in the Simple Things

When I saw this dragonfly up close, I thought of lace... the wings are so fragile and beautiful..

and the color of his head...exquisite...

Milk and wine lily.  I have a love/hate relationship with this old monster of a plant..  It is a true heirloom and all old houses have them, BUT.... it is not my favorite..

It has not performed well in the past but now I am thinking it has just been in a really bad mood for lack of water...seeming very happy this year and worthy of some photos....

This, my friends, is a new one for me.  it is called Wolf's milk slime...a fungus that is harmless but oh so interesting.  It popped up over night under my daylilies ..We have had so much rain that there are many little surprises like this in our garden this year...

Just a happy little garden vignette..

coreopsis, crocosmia, smoke bush, and an old cupola from our house's chimney.

What simple beauty have you discovered today?  the world is full of beauty..sometimes we just have to dig a little deeper to find it..
