Revisiting some old friends and some beautiful flowers

 Hey y'all

It's been so long..  But I guess you already know that.  LOL

I miss blogging and want to get back in the discipline of writing.  I take so many pictures and would love to share them with you.  My flowers are beginning to bloom all over the yard so here are a few for you to see.

I hope you enjoy them

So many daylilies.  There are new ones blooming every morning.

I'll be back soon with more.

Good to see you again,

Mona

Mid Century Modern

This table setting was so fun to do. It was inspired by some Rosenthal crystal that I just happened to discover while looking for some parfait glasses on ebay. I am in love with their square bases and beautiful crystal. They are Linear Smoke by Rosenthal. I have had these white dishes and this stainless flatware a long time. They are actually the exact dishes and utensils that were in my childhood home. We lived in an ultra modern house. the original mid century modern. I still have such a fondness for that period as you can see by my table. Maybe I am a minimalist somewhere deep down in my soul. LOL that was real funny..
My daylilies seem to set off the tablecloth and help with the sleek, linear inspiration. I hope you enjoy the pictures and get some ideas. I am pretty happy with the way it all came together. Thanks to all of you for your many, many encouraging comments.. just makes my day..

Bridal White Iroquois Ben Seibel plates
Sabrina by Reed and Barton stainless
Linear Smoke by Rosenthal crystal
Pewter chargers
Fisher sterling goblets
teak centerpiece with Terrariums by Syndicate home and garden
Linen table cloth by me..

The daylilies are blooming and the garden is beginning to mature. It is a glorious time of year to find something beautiful to focus on. Search for that beauty. You will find it..

Thanks for stopping by,

What if?

What if I started blogging regularly again...  I often think about writing again..  Maybe I will just try it out and see where it goes.

I do have an awful lot of life that I could share with y'all.  After all, my blog vision was to share what goes on in a home that most folks don't see.  My Mama used to ask me all the time.  What do you do all day???  in a very condescending way.  LOL  I never run out of things to do.  It is never boring around here and I definitely like to make everything pretty.

Elevate the everyday is a phrase I have been repeating often..

Here are a few pictures of my daylilies that are blooming..

Let's just call this a trial run..  I just feel the need to spread the beauty.  to elevate the everyday.  to share what is good and hopeful..

I hope you have enjoyed the flowers.  Until next time..
Love,
Mona

The Back Porch

We are entering week 7 of the grand reconstruction of our back yard....and deck/porch...

I am telling ya...new construction is not for the faint of heart...  LOL

The screen is being installed as we speak and the tin roof was finished yesterday.  I can't wait to get inside the porch to paint the floor and add furniture, etc...that might take a while...

Ceiling fans, light fixtures and on and on..who knew how many decisions would have to be made....

It all started on one cold, icy night back in February....we heard an enormous limb   two enormous limbs laden with ice come crashing down on our deck and roof.....  little did we know.....
all these months later, and we are still not back to normal yet...whew!

But out of destruction, came beauty.....kinda like the Phoenix rising out of the ashes...

We have truly been given a crown of beauty for ashes...

Love,
Mona

A Natural Wonder

This morning the light looked just right to take some pictures of the yard so I headed outside with my camera....The red crepe myrtle is spectacular and that was my plan...  But.....the sunlight and breeze came together at just the right moment on this spider web..It caught my eye on this most intricate and delicate piece of artwork....I think you will agree..it is a wonder!!!

This is without any editing....wanted it to be exactly as I saw it....can you believe the detail?  and Missy Spider was busily adding more rings.....

This is what came to me as I watched this unfold..and as I examined the pictures.... if God is so interested in just a little spider that He makes their home this absolutely exquisite...then how much more do you think He cares about us and our homes?  He likes for us to enjoy beauty....after all, He made all things beautiful in its time....

I hope you look for and find something beautiful and unusual today......look for it and EXPECT to find it...let me know what you find.....

This was truly an unexpected bit of artwork this morning.......

Than you for stopping by.

I hope you come again soon...

The Value of Beauty

This light pink crepe myrtle is breathtaking.  It is an old variety and was growing here when we bought the house.  Our house is about 90 yrs old so I dream of the original owner planting these beauties long ago..there are 3 of them but only one of them thrives...

I planted this red crepe myrtle in memory of my Mama..it is so slow to bloom this year..Our hardwood trees have grown so much in the past 10 years that shade is creeping in more than I would like...
We are surrounded by trees on all sides with a huge sunny spot in the middle....

And liriope...good old dependable and durable liriope...Probably every southern garden has some  a lot growing in it.  It is still one of the plants I am so happy to have in my yard.  especially when it starts to send up these spikes in late summer....

What do you have blooming in your late summer garden?  Is it still beautiful?  The monsoon season seems to be over for now and the flowers are slowly recovering..We have the best crop of grass we have ever had...

Look for the beauty in your day..in your surroundings..It is easy to see the bad and dirty but sometimes we have to look extra carefully to find the beauty...I promise you that it is there somewhere...Challenge yourself to find it...

Thank you for stopping by..
