Friday Flowers #14

Here are some flowers of late summer...

Well, since this is Labor Day weekend I had better get these summery tablescapes on this blog or forget about it til next year.  It's kinda like wearing white shoes after Labor Day..We southern ladies just don't do it...

So, I am going to hodgepodge this post..Probably lots of pictures so I hope you are along for the ride...I might even join a party or two.....Now for the late summer roundup of the things I never posted this summer......Hold on....

here are some flower filled tables...

and another one..

I have a little addition to my tables.  This pattern was my Mama's and she said she sold it years ago.  I have always loved it and now I am sure you will be seeing a LOT more of this beautiful French Renaissance on my tables..

I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and do something fun...

Get out your pretty dishes and pick some flowers and set a beautiful table...  it doesn't take much to do this....

Love,
Mona

In the HEAT of it ALL

When Kathleen at Cuisine Kathleen issued this challenge...a summer table...I thought of flowers,of course....

Nothing says summer to me like Zinnias...so that was my starting point .  I don't know what it is about blue that reminds people of water..I always think of sky when I see blue...blue sky...hmmm.  I don't really ever say blue water...and the water around here in ponds is green or brown or murky..we don't see much blue water in Georgia..and there are mud puddles..thousands of them...LOL   .oh well, just my way of thinking....BUT, these little blue vases did start reminding me of cooler weather and water. so, here it is....My late summer table.....

I found these plates recently at our Salvation Army store..not very many of them and most of them were chipped but I found four..even if they are quite crazed I like them. and they are cheaper than paper plates to use..and they are made in France..win, win, win...

Next came this piece of fabric from my HUGE STASH well thought out and carefully selected pieces of fabric....

S.U.M.M.E.R.T.I.M.E  and the living is easy...

This silverware (do y'all call it that?) is from my childhood and is probably my most cherished piece of family history...   I love that I am using the exact spoons to eat cereal with today, that me, my sister, and brother used to eat our cereal with 50 years ago..  My Mama was one modern loving woman..we lived in a house that was the Brady Bunch style....very modern and sleek...Her dishes were timeless as this picture shows..

Basil for the table...wish you could smell it....summer in a vase...

And here are the zinnias..  the ones that have survived this monsoon season we are having.. in a condiment set that I bought just for flower arranging...yes, I am like that..everything has to have flower arranging capabilities...

Green depression glass says summer too..this budvase was my Grandmother's and sat on my parents breakfast table a long time..

I am realizing more and more that I am really a very vintage girl.  I like vintage dishes and home decorating.  I always have, as you can see in my nod to the 60's with my tablecovering fabric....

Yes, Twiggy would be proud of my flower power table...

After proofreading this post, I wanted to add a positive word about all of our rain before I published this  ....
I have only had to water my gardens once or twice this whole summer...I am not kidding.. and everything is green, green and lush and growing in leaps and bounds..so you see, there really is an upside to all the rain..and I am very thankful for rain...all of it!!

I'm so glad you stopped by today..

I hope you will take time to go and visit the parties where I am linking up this week.  There are lots of good ideas and beautiful blogs to visit.  and some nice people to meet..

Please come again soon....

Love,
Mona

Hitting a Homerun

I think that our dining outside is over until it gets cooler...We have had so much rain that we haven't had many chances to eat on our deck... Now it is hot and humid..welcome to the south!   This was one of the last times we enjoyed a summer supper on the deck..and my husband did the cooking.  It made it taste even better...

Vintage glasses with a bark like pattern are some of my favorites...(do I always say that??) and again we are using the Naturewood plates by Pfaltzgraff with aqua placemats and Paul Revere forks..

and tis the season for Vidalia onions..

He made onion rings and sweet potato fries...with grass fed burgers...

 They were so good...

And the best part (well, not really) but close.... was the sweet potatoes coordinated with the colors on the plates....now, that is a homerun..

speaking of baseball.....lol

Here are a few pictures from the baseball field when we went to see our grandsons play recently....

Happy Birthday to my sweet grandson Mac...he is 5 years old today.....

Thank you for stopping by..Please come again soon...

La La Land

It's feeling a lot like I am living in la la land lately.....the weather is unseasonal....my house is in that state of limbo between decorated for Christmas and cozied up for winter...which seems non existent at the moment.. and the twinges of spring fever because it has been so warm lately...so all of this is making for a little bit of 'every which way'  inside of me....is it fall, winter or spring??????   I know, I know...look at the calendar..it is officially WINTER..

I actually worked in my garden over the weekend and even broke a sweat...oh, wait is that unlady like to say that??  LOL  sorry....    and dug some weeds and planted some garlic....I am even thinking about planting some greens..it better hurry up and get cold if it is going to cause I can feel planting season coming on in a great big hurry..

BUT
.
I can look at this picture and realize  we have a few months before it will really be warm enough to grow much around here.....

Winterpast in winter

Bo

isn't he just the cutest thing?  we call him the lounge lizard beacuse he always has this look on his face like he is going to break out in crooning some love songs that would only be appropriate in a slinky lounge....good ol' Bo..
and he ALWAYS looks at me like this..

now back to the winter landscape.....

my beloved garden

yes, that's Bryan mowing in the background

THE flowerbed
and  ALWAYS, ALWAYS flowers....
Hopefully I will exit la la land sometimes in the very near future........there is a lot of living to do......
Until then,  thank you for coming by today and see you again real soon...
