Something Red

Good morning to you all.  I just thought my blog needed something red for Valentines Day.  My tables are all set and flowers are on the coffee table....Just a few pictures to show you something pretty...and red.....

The table is set with red and white this year.  red roses, silverplate trays for chargers and Johnson Brothers red and white plates... I embroidered some fun napkins and got out my Chantilly sterling.

I hope your Valentines Day is romantic...
Love,
Mona

The Beauty of Flowers

This rose is Alchemist.  I bought it from Antique Rose Emporium in Texas.  It has truly been spectacular...and has bloomed for about 6 weeks....very fragrant and absolutely one of my all time favorites....

There is nothing on earth that is prettier to me than flowers...Just imagine that our Creator made them just for us to enjoy the beauty...such extravagance...such love....such creativity...Have you ever thought about how many different flowers there are?  unfathomable...so why do we try to copy someone else with our lives?  that also is unfathomable.....Be who you are meant to be.  Be Yourself!

Come on in and I will show you a few more roses....

This is Graham Thomas.....

and Julia Child

they are both similar but oh so different....both of them yellow but different fragrances and different plant styles..

now the daylilies.I just cannot get enough of them...and yellow seems to be the color of my garden right now...

The blue of batchelor buttons is a nice complimentary color in the garden........and so is my companion Bo...

While the Dew is Still on the Roses

I often feel like the little girl in this video as I walk in my garden in the early morning..  I think there is a specialness that only a gardener can know about this morning walk while the dew is still on the roses.  Many times I hum or sing this song as I wander about my garden.  I hope you listen to these words as you scroll through my pictures......of the dew on the roses...

It's what makes me the woman I am...walking and talking with Him...alone in the garden.  I hope you find some alone with Him time today....like a child hand in hand....it will change your perspective on life...

I am thankful for my garden because of who I meet there....

Have a wonderful day....

Good Things Are Worth Waiting For

My roses are starting to bloom all over the yard.  I have many roses that have come from the Antique Rose Emporium and they are beautiful every year.....this rose is the Alchemist rose.  I bought it last year and it didn't bloom so I have waited a long year to see the first blooms.  it should be spectacular soon...you will be seeing more of this beautiful rose.  and the fragrance is what you would expect from a beautiful rose...

The chive blooms make me happy every year..one of my favorite herbs in the garden...

Oh and the daylilies..yes, they are starting to put up scapes.  it won't be long now...can't wait..

Bachelor buttons....they are eye level to a child...wonder how I know??   because I remember them from my childhood.  Mama had a big bed of them and I can still remember being eye to eye with them.  I have been growing these in my garden forever...

This bloodgood maple is so red in the spring.....

Just a few short years ago this plot of earth was just red clay, weeds, and a little bit of grass.. Bryan and I started working on it and today it is a huge perennial bed...I add a little bit to it each year...expanding it slowly..grin..

That's about all I have today.  it has been raining and I have been cleaning.. and of course, setting a table.....

A Touch of Art Deco

One of the eras I really, really love is art deco.  I use touches of it throughout my house..nothing is more true about my house than it is very eclectic.....If I like the style, I will find a place for it...juxtaposing many things here....It's just how I do things...there is beauty in all of it.....

So, I was lacking inspiration UNTIL I found this magnificent art deco platter at the thrift store..I was shopping for something else but just took a quick look in the dishes..wink, wink....and there she was.......my inspiration for this table scape.....

All creamy white with silver and green touches........the perfect green for depression glass......and made by Alfred Meakin.....

Several of my silverplate pieces use art deco themes..I mixed them up with floral pieces for the table...

and this little chrome covered dish....

I used my depression glass divided plates on Italian Countryside dinner plates with the square silver chargers..

and here are the birds since Kathleen has a theme going for this week....I used the birds and the flowers....

This table makes me smile.  I am sure we will enjoy eating at this table....kinda simple with a little bit of art deco elegance thrown in....

and roses....they make everything better....

Remember to use what you like and it will all go together..Set your table with things that make you smile...it will make a much nicer atmosphere for a meal....

I can't wait to see all the beauty at these fun parties.....come join in...I am sharing at
