One of the eras I really, really love is art deco. I use touches of it throughout my house..nothing is more true about my house than it is very eclectic.....If I like the style, I will find a place for it...juxtaposing many things here....It's just how I do things...there is beauty in all of it.....
So, I was lacking inspiration UNTIL I found this magnificent art deco platter at the thrift store..I was shopping for something else but just took a quick look in the dishes..wink, wink....and there she was.......my inspiration for this table scape.....
All creamy white with silver and green touches........the perfect green for depression glass......and made by Alfred Meakin.....
Several of my silverplate pieces use art deco themes..I mixed them up with floral pieces for the table...
and this little chrome covered dish....
I used my depression glass divided plates on Italian Countryside dinner plates with the square silver chargers..
and here are the birds since Kathleen has a theme going for this week....I used the birds and the flowers....
This table makes me smile. I am sure we will enjoy eating at this table....kinda simple with a little bit of art deco elegance thrown in....
and roses....they make everything better....
Remember to use what you like and it will all go together..Set your table with things that make you smile...it will make a much nicer atmosphere for a meal....
I can't wait to see all the beauty at these fun parties.....come join in...I am sharing at

I love your art deco table and the story behind it. How fun you were looking for something else and the platter caught your eye. Everything about your tablescape is very creative. The way you placed the silverware in the napkin ring is very clever. Your colors are so pleasing. All you need is some music from the period and you are ready. Did you grow those beautiful roses?
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week.
I love the shade of green of your depression glass plates. beautiful flowers and beautiful platter!...Christine

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful table...♥ the simplicity of it. The sectioned plates are a real treasure. It's amazing what can be found in thrift stores...the platter is a great find.
ReplyDeleteYour table makes me smile, too! Art Deco - what a unique inspiration for a tablescape. I have to tell you that the piece of silverplate flatware you showed with the Deco-style platter is gorgeous. Not only did it make me smile, it made my heart flutter. Thank you for your beautiful table (and for sharing the green Depressionware.)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post....and I love the Art deco find. Don't you just love finding those lost treasures. The green depression glass dishes are stunning, love those too!

I love your art deco silver trimed platter. This is the perfect inspiration and I adore how you created this tablescape. The green depression plates are a pretty addition to each place setting. Then the silver charger is just the icing on the cake! This makes me think of the black and white movies of the era when they would dance across the screen. You have given me the inspiration to use some of my depression pieces. Thanks for sharing this fabulous tablescape!

Mona,
ReplyDeleteYour table looks lovely. I have a bit of eclectic style myself. I'm like you, if I see something that I love, I will find a place for it. Aaaahhhh, the red roses make the table more beautiful. Isn't it amazing what we can find at our thrift stores?
Have a nice weekend.
