Photography in the Fall

For some reason as the temperatures cool and the garden goes to sleep, I turn to photography.  I always take so many pictures in the fall.  Maybe it's because I have more time.  Maybe because of the lull for a moment between the end of summer and the beginning of Thanksgiving. Whatever the reason, I thought I would share some random photos.

Just a few glimpses into life.  We had an awfully hard week.  After nursing our dog Tula for many weeks, we said goodbye to her last Monday.  It was indeed a heartbreaker for us.  She has been my most photographed dog. She was so very photogenic.  We are missing her in many ways but life goes on.  We are sad but not defeated...  I will leave you with a few of our girl Tula...

Tula and Juneteenth

Today is our beloved Tula's 5th birthday..if you have been around my blog for long, you have certainly heard a little about our Aussies...all 5 of them...but today is just Tula......what a trip she is.  she enjoys having her picture taken and often poses..  if she feels like it......so this is a little journey through her few short years so far.

she still sleeps on this blanket..

cutest little puppy..then she grew up.  sorta.

Her favorite toy has been flower pots.  this one is her current favorite one..she chases it like a ball..

Our beautiful red tri girl..

Tula Does the Hula

She should have been in the movies or tv..I hardly ever get a bad picture of her.  very photogenic and so many expressions..  I should confess that she is really my husband's dog...until after 9 0'clock at night when she gets on my ottoman right by my feet and goes to sleep...every.single.night.like.clockwork.....

Happy Birthday Tula

oh, yes...Juneteenth... Emancipation Proclamation Day..today s the 150th anniversary .  also known as Freedom Day...very interesting and we all should be aware of this date in history..      for more on that, you can look here .

Tula...our spoiled rotten dog.....

Queen Tula

Today, Bryan's beloved dog, Tula turns 4 years old...she has been his side kick and companion since I convinced him he needed a dog and insisted that we he keep her...she is Bonnie's puppy...and was from a litter of a grand total of ONE!!!!  she most definitely has that 'only child' syndrome.......but now she is part of a family of 5 dogs...sigh.

you would think she would learn that after all of this time.......she is the only one that is allowed on any furniture....go figure....yep, Bryan's dog......

This is Tula.....  curious as the day is long....she had found this bug......

.

here's looking at you kid....

Happy Birthday Tula  dog....you have certainly spiced up our life!

thank you for stopping by today and I hope to see you again soon...

Being Disciplined

I don't think anybody likes to be disciplined...it is a very necessary part of living but it is not a very pleasant part..the outcome is beneficial if we listen and yield to wise discipline...with all of that said..this is an absolutely laugh out loud picture........

I am sure dear hubby is saying TULA, NO !!!!!!!!!   and you see the look on her face.( she is the one on the far left)...LOL  she is NOT listening much less going to do what he is saying!  this is an every day occurrence in our household..  she is wide open, full speed ahead, all of the time...she will chase after the ball until she passes out if we let her...and trying to get her to lie down so the other 3 can have a turn with the ball, well....that is what this scene is all about...TAKE TURNS!!!...hahahahaha...she is 4 years old and we adore this girl..  oh, the expressions she has...and every night at 9 o'clock she jumps up on the ottoman near my feet, lays her head on the coffee table glass and goes to sleep...EVERY NIGHT!!  at the same time.....
but....one thing she is NOT is disciplined....we have tried so many things...and if she wants to do it, she will find a way......(she was  an only child for a while and from a singleton litter)  probably explains a lot...LOL

Oh well, we love her in spite of her undisciplined ways but it would be so much nicer if she would just yield to us....

a few more from the same scenario......it got better after she chilled...I could write a book about life with Tula..

trying to explain to them about sharing the ball

success..someone besides Tula got the ball

Bo's proud moment

Tula's eagle eye on the ball...ALWAYS
.
I hope you enjoyed this story about Tula...since we have an empty nest, dogs become more like people to us...

we realize they aren't, but they fill some of the places where children used to be..and they are a real joy to us...

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope to see you again soon...

Tula and herb

Two of my favorite things are herbs in my garden and my dogs.  I know they don't seem to go together but around here, if you are outside..there are dogs around you and herbs to pick and smell or just to enjoy...I have herbs everywhere. I am certainly a 'herbs in the landscape' kind of woman...  I hope you enjoy the pictures of some of my herbs..
patchouli

garlic chives

Mexican terragon

Genovese basil

rosemary

sweet Annie artemesia

lemon verbena

rose geranium
Herbs are certainly a delight to have in the garden..I have been growing them for more than twenty years..they are easy and rewarding.  if you haven't tried them yet, I encourage you to get a few and you'll be hooked.they are a great addition to the landscape....

and now for some Tula goodness.....this dog loves to pose for me...she is the easiest to get a picture of....she sure loves life!!!!!
