the Ultimate Sophistication

I have this picture in my family room.  It is one of my favorites because it is a reminder for me to simplify...

My daughter recently posted on facebook her musings on hanging a plaque in her boys room that said PEACE...They are 3,5,and 7...You can imagine how much peace lives in that room...but, as she and I talked about this, we discussed the possibility that hanging that Peace sign there could remind her to pray for peace over that room...hmmmmm

That's where this old little picture comes into play in my life...could it remind me to simplify?  to pray for a more simplified life?  to remind me to pray for what is really important and to focus on that......

Yellow roses remind me of the importance of my marriage.  it is the very first flower that Bryan ever gave me.
a single yellow rose...

And color...I am thankful for my eyes..I have worn glasses for more than 55 years and this reminds me of how much I am thankful for my sight.....

Are there simple reminders in your home?  that remind you to pray for something?  to be thankful for something?

Add some visual reminders to your homes.  any little thing that says to you..remember to do this..

Thank you for stopping by..please come again soon..and visit my facebook page too....

  1. I have a really neat stone and ivy cross with palm branches on it hanging right where we walk into the house or out of the house............my most favorite reminder of all.

LOVE this post of yours - and that print is a beautiful reminder.

I have been trying to simplify a bit starting with my excesses in the basement storage - spend all summer doing it and it is slowly working....every single item leaving the house - be it giving away, donating, selling or tossing feels great. I am starting to be able to see past my clutter and get a fresh outlook on simple organization down there.....simplifying.

I am with ya lady. Hugs and prayers.

  2. There are so many things that remind me to be thankful, but the number one is the view from my porch. The moment that I walk out there and see the lake and the trees, I am so thankful that we found this special lot many years ago. It is so private and peaceful and gives me a soft place to land, when I need one. I have read many a book there and enjoyed many glasses of wine, while watching the sun go down. I have entertained lots of friends and family members who always fight for a place on the swing. I have pushed my grandchildren on that swing a million times and have swung them to sleep, when they were babies. That porch is the story of my life...

  4. I love the teaching that sometimes the Lord calms the hurricane, and sometimes He calms His child in the middle of the hurricane. Peace...it's my measure for whether or not I'm walking where I need to be, regardless of external circumstances. Thanks for the inspiration. Cherry Kay

  5. Appreciate the colors in your yellow roses...yellow roses are my favorite. The picture with the greens and blues makes me want to do one of those color swatches from PicMonkey. I do, and I hope that everyone does, have special items that remind me of my blessings. Thank you for reminding me!
