Remembering and Being Thankful

Normally I would be working on a tablescape this morning...but..in light of the tragedy in Oklahoma yesterday, I decided to change what I would  write about.  so no tablescape this week...

As I heard them talking about all of the elementary school children that are missing and hurt, I could identify with their concern....Because you see, this week I have celebrated the baptism of my 6 1/2 year old grandson..and tomorrow he graduates from kindergarten....I just cannot imagine the sorrow of sending your child off to school and that being the last time you ever see them alive...so with all of these feelings for the OK residents, I simply used the flowers I had already picked as a memorial to their children....

My prayer is for peace and comfort for all of those involved in this ...As they clean up and arrange for the funerals for their little ones, may we remember them as we go about our holiday celebrations for Memorial Day..and the emptiness they are experiencing...

And remember to be thankful for our families and children......

And to live a life with no regrets and keeping a really, really short list of our grievances against others....laying down our anger and unforgiveness towards others....because sudden death of someone we love, like what happened in OK, is a terrible thing....

Today I am saddened and thankful at the same time.........just my thoughts this morning....

  2. I totally agree, Mona. We really should live life, as if we have no more days. We certainly are not promised any. The heartbreak of losing a child is a feeling that I wish no one would ever have to feel. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Oklahoma - thank you for writing this wonderful post!

  5. Wonderful words today, Mona. I'm feeling properly chastised in my own complaining spirit. I have nothing to complain about. Nothing.

  6. Beautiful post and photos. One of my daughter;s best friends lived in Moore and barely got out in time with her two year old son. Their home was destroyed but thank God that they are alive.

And you are so right about putting our grievances and unforgiveness aside. Life is too short for that.
