Our Small Business

Today I am going to tell you about something that I rarely ever mention on my blog..partly because it has been an uphill battle and partly..well, it is not always pretty and doesn't contain flowers......but..it is a HUGE part of our life......

Yesterday I went to look over the office that we have just leased for Athens Window and Door....it is the business we started almost 5 years ago..it has been in our home all of this time  and to put it mildly that has been a stretch for both of us.....

 This is the office door..OPEN..

The door for building this business has stayed OPEN for us and we have taken it one day at a time.....

But...the day has FINALLY come...we are going PUBLIC!!  yes indeed..we are moving the business into an official office, complete with warehouse space..we could not be more excited..and a little bit nervous too....

These pictures are of the raw space....lots of ideas floating around in our heads about how to arrange it....I just had to share it with you..maybe it is time for me to share a little of our story of how we have been building a business in the worst economy we could imagine...and a business involving the housing market...and we did it in our front room, with our carport serving as a storage facility..our front porch too...

We are renting a small portion of this warehouse space...

Like a proud parent, Bryan is showing me where we will store the windows and doors....

Our overhead door and door to the loading dock...(could not get him to be still enough for a picture..grin, wink)

What a journey this has been and it most definitely feels like a child leaving home for the first time...hoping that we have done the right things to ensure it's success......and today WE HOPE!!!

Thank you for sharing in another dream of ours....owners of Athens Window and Door.......
and if you need windows...now you know where to call....

  3. Exciting times......
You know with all of the talk of bad economy, people are still building homes in our area. Construction is moving right along. When my husband moved into a building things really took off.
I think you all have made a good decision and will do well!!

    Good Luck....
