Happy Birthday Mama

This is an updated post from last year.  My Mama was tragically killed in a car accident 10 years ago this May..today is her birthday so I want to celebrate her life once again.........

As hard as I have tried to outrun the feelings of loss that I have...I cannot.....I miss my Mama..plain and simple...she was the one that kept the family together..without her, it has fallen apart.......

and that is pretty much all I have to say.........

I miss her...

I still think about her every day...

and I love her.......

still...

Mama's have a powerful role in their children's lives..good or bad...it doesn't matter..

so for the love of home

 and flowers

 and 'looking pretty'...

I am thankful to her...she gave me this....she sent me to charm school in order to seal the deal in my life.....yes sirree..I am a born and bred Southern Lady....just like my Mama......

                                                                   Happy Birthday Mama..........

thank you for stopping by today....please come again soon.....

  1. Oh, geez, Mona....geez. I am almost at a loss for words. You've heard me ramble on before, so you know that's not typical of me. I am so incredibly sorry. I don't know exactly what it feels like because both of my parents are (thank you, God!) still with us, but I have a fair idea having lost a brother 14 years ago in a tragic motorcycle accident. There's nothing like a Mama, though, as you allude to. They're different, they're special, they're a whole separate category in our lives. She taught you well, and her legacy lives on. Your duty is to do just as you're doing now: cherish her memory and live the way she would expect you to under her tutelage. Again, I'm so sorry. Peace to you.

  2. I lost my mother in 2007 to COPD. And I think that there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her. And sometimes when I look in the mirror I see her. It was daunting when I realized I was the matriarch. Sounds like she prepared you well. So sorry, prayers for peace.. xo marlis

  3. What a beautiful tribute to your Mom. I lost my Mom six year ago. One day short of her 100th birthday. We had so many relatives fly in for the birthday party, and when my sister canceled the cake, I phoned and reordered. Mom wanted her party, and we were going to have a party. She would have loved it. My sweet husband recorded video of her party and then put in video and snapshots from Mom's life, to create a video put to music for all of Mom's children and grandchildren.
The mother's and father's of this world are the heroes of our everyday lives and we couldn't get by without them. I love finding daughter's and son's who cherish their memories.
I don't know why it has taken me so long to find your wonderful blog. We have many mutual followers, so I think it was destiny for our paths to cross at some point in time. I am your newest follower and I would like to take this opportunity to invite you over to follow me back. I have met the nicest people in blog-land.
