Salute to the Red, White, and Blue

This blog is going to be mostly a picture book today.  I tried and tried to get the true feel of this table.  the blue has definitely won my heart...I hope you like it.  We will be eating tomato sandwiches on these plates for the Fourth of July.   My son and daughter in law are having a party and cookout so they are in charge of the celebrations this year at their house....EASY for me...but  I just had to set a table with red, white, and blue......

these blue plates are by Dansk.. ..the red transferware is Johnson Brothers Historic America.

These swizzle sticks are cobalt blue glass. Hotel Governor Clinton ..New York is written on them.  I have never photographed them before and I know they are old.  I got them from a lady that was in her 80's 25 years ago when I did an estate sale for her..  If any of you know anything about them, please let me know.  they are perfect for this table.....

flowers from my garden....

heirloom tomatoes from my garden...

The picture below was how this table started out....and then I found the blue patterned plates at the Salvation Army thrift store....and....I had to delete all the pictures and reset the table...oh, the life of a tablescaper..LOL

Happy Fourth of July to all of you!  Enjoy your celebrations........

I am sharing this week with  Let's Dish
and with Tablescapes Thursday
Come see what's happening....

  7. Mona, I had to laugh at your comment about the life of a tablescaper. You did find great blue patterned plates! I must say your flowers are gorgeous and those tomatoes look mouth watering! We can not grow tomatoes at all because we don't have enough sun.

I can't say enough good things about your patriotic table. I have a few Johnson Brothers Historic America plates in red and blue that I would like to use sometime. What you did looks great.I love your pressed glass goblets. They have a beautiful pattern and you captured them with your camera very well. Your cobalt swizzle sticks and salt and pepper are perfect for your table. I am partial to blue in any shade!

Glad you set a red, white and blue table!

  8. I truly love this table. I have seen a lot of patriotic ones tonight (of course) but this is one of my favorites. I love the deep cobalt of your blues, and I just love the watermelon in the center. It just makes me smile.

  9. Well, you certainly captured "the feel" of this table for me! It says "patriotism", "home", "nature", and "love" all at once for me. Having the tomatoes, melon and fresh flowers all make it that much more special!!!

I don't know about the history of those swizzle sticks, but they sure are cool. They work really well with the overall look of the table.

I love the way you mixed and matched the dinnerware patterns, too!!!

I hope you enjoyed the holiday with your son and daughter-in-law! Have a great weekend!
