Good Things Are Worth Waiting For

My roses are starting to bloom all over the yard.  I have many roses that have come from the Antique Rose Emporium and they are beautiful every year.....this rose is the Alchemist rose.  I bought it last year and it didn't bloom so I have waited a long year to see the first blooms.  it should be spectacular soon...you will be seeing more of this beautiful rose.  and the fragrance is what you would expect from a beautiful rose...

The chive blooms make me happy every year..one of my favorite herbs in the garden...

Oh and the daylilies..yes, they are starting to put up scapes.  it won't be long now...can't wait..

Bachelor buttons....they are eye level to a child...wonder how I know??   because I remember them from my childhood.  Mama had a big bed of them and I can still remember being eye to eye with them.  I have been growing these in my garden forever...

This bloodgood maple is so red in the spring.....

Just a few short years ago this plot of earth was just red clay, weeds, and a little bit of grass.. Bryan and I started working on it and today it is a huge perennial bed...I add a little bit to it each year...expanding it slowly..grin..

That's about all I have today.  it has been raining and I have been cleaning.. and of course, setting a table.....

  1. Mona, do you remember the old poem, "The Touch of the Master's Hand"? That is what your garden has. What an amazing transformation and lovely, lovely flowers. Wish I could smell that gorgeous rose - I know it is glorious!!

  2. Yes...I caught that: "expanding it slowly...grin" thing! ;-) We always start by "expanding it slowly" on everything we do, and then it becomes a little bit of an obsession. Kind of like me and dishes! :-)

Your roses are beautiful, and I am really blown away by the chives!!! I don't know that I've ever seen them with the little purple heads on them! (City girl!) I don't think bachelor buttons are a perennial here. Heck, MOST flowers aren't a perennial here smack dab in the middle of the country! :-)

Very pretty!!!!!! Have fun "expanding slowly"!!! :-)
