The Farmer and the Jeep

My roots go deep into the south Georgia soil...It seems that last night during the Super Bowl, the commercials that spoke to many were the down home subjects.....the silly and the overly sexual were rejected by my peers ....maybe we are coming to our senses...maybe we are beginning to see that the lights truly are going out in America..and we need to PAUSE and WAIT for them to come back on..to stop acting like everything is alright and going ahead as usual.....maybe a lot of Americans don't even realize that half of the circuit is blown and the light that we once knew is now dim, very dim....

I love that I spent my childhood among farmers..we were a rural farming community....our family business relied heavily on the farming...summer jobs came from the farming...fall schedules centered around harvest...My Daddy told us not long ago that his biggest day of the year was January 1..the day that farmers would come in to get their supplies....I was happy to see the farmer honored through the Dodge commercial last night....

I spent many, many afternoons riding around with my friend Ed in his old army issue Jeep...several boys in my town had them and we were an adventurous bunch in those Jeeps...our first off road experiences...they broke down barriers and we could ride anywhere.....great memories of my teenage years..

Seems like we are looking for some comfort food in our commercials...the farmer and the jeep...two American icons....without the farmer, this nation would not be as advanced as we are...

I still love to grow things.  I plant a vegetable garden every year...I grow plants, trees, and flowers...there is farming in my blood and I so very much appreciate and value our farmers..

If you didn't see the commercials last night, google them....they are worth the time it takes to see them....

  1. I will have to google them because we did not watch the game. Love the puppy with the ball image.

  2. I agree with Olive - I must Google them. I watched part of the game, but was not impressed with the referees, nor the sportsmanship. We definitely grew up in a farming community, Mona. I am a little older and our avenue to freedom was the moped. We flew all over the farm fields in those. Nothing like growing up in a small town!
