Taps

Did you sing Taps as a child? I learned it in Girl Scouts..we sang it at camp...the words are often remembered......

Fading light dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar drawing nigh -- Falls the night.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Then good night, peaceful night,
Till the light of the dawn shineth bright;
God is near, do not fear -- Friend, good night.

These are a few glimpses of our homeplace as the sun started to set this week....it is a beautiful time of day...

those are green pine trees in the background..the setting sun had turned them golden..

I love the different times of day..the uniqueness of each one..when it's time to close the blinds, draw the drapes, and turn on the lights.

a very cozy time of day.
when we can again shut out the world and just be us..

yes, TAPS is a welcome song in our lives.

Because we know that dawn will arrive in just a few short hours and another day will begin..

I hope you have a restful and peaceful weekend with a surprise or two thrown in..

  1. I want to cry every time I hear it. I guess having heard it at soldiers funerals, it reminds me of those sad occasions. I loved the way you have used it hear - maybe, I will think of your home place the next time the song is played...
