Confederate Rose

One of my favorite flowers bloomed yesterday for the first time...
But most of the time I think the truth is what my Daddy said...my favorite flower is the one that is in front of me at that moment...I do love flowers...all of them....this Confederate Rose came from Mamama's house many years ago..and we moved it here when we bought this house...I hope you enjoy it..these are the very first blooms of the year.....

 and this morning I took these pictures of the same bloom...one of the wonderful things about this flower is that it turns from almost white to dark pink, almost red before it dies....the bloom only lasts 2 days....and then the closed flower turns dark pink...it is full of blooms and will remain that way until a freeze kills it back until next year.  the hardest part is waiting for it to bloom since it has a really late bloom period..the end of October..I think it is fitting that this most beautiful flower blooms during Mamama's birthday month....
